Email Marketing

E-mail marketing is a form of direct mail which uses email as means of communicating commercial messages to an audience. In its broadest sense, every email sent to a potential or current customer could be considered email marketing. However, the term is usually used to refer to:

  • Sending e-mails with the purpose of enhancing the relationship of a business with its existing clients and to encourage customer loyalty and stimulate future business.
  • Sending e-mails with the purpose of acquiring new customers or persuading existing to purchase services or products immediately.

Researchers estimate that as of 2005 the Email Marketing industry's revenues has surpassed the £1/2 billion/yr mark.
